ANCA Western Region Endorses Matt Dababneh for CA State Assembly

The Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region (ANCA-WR) announced today its endorsement of Matt Dababneh for the 45th State Assembly District. The decision came after a thorough candidate selection process, which included meetings with candidates, an examination of each candidate’s track record with regards to issues of concern to the Armenian-American community as well as their position on key issues facing the State of California.

“As Congressman Brad Sherman’s District Chief of Staff and Senior Aide for the last nine years, I have developed a strong working relationship the American Armenian community in the West San Fernando Valley. I have long-standing relationships with ANCA members and officers. I have also developed relationships with many Armenian elected officials and community leaders,” noted now ANCA WR endorsed candidate Matt Dababneh. “Every year, I participate in dozens of American Armenian events in the West San Fernando Valley, including the Homenetmen Navasartian Games Festival where our office hosts a booth every year and the yearly Armenian Genocide commemoration in Montebello. I look forward to strengthening the relationship I have built with the American Armenian community in the West San Fernando Valley as a member of the California State Assembly,” added Dababneh.

Topics covered during the meetings included the present political climate in Sacramento, economic conditions and improvement in the Valley, as well as, issues of interest to the Armenian American community such as further fostering the long standing cooperation between the Armenian American community and legislators in the California Assembly, increasing scrutiny on the proliferation of the Magnolia Charter schools in California, and increasing opportunities for Armenian Americans in the civic and political forum.

“After a thorough process in which the ANCA North and West Valley Chapters of the Western Region met with top tier candidates in this race, our two chapters and the communities it represents fully endorse Matt as the best qualified candidate to represent the Armenian-American interests in the California State Assembly,” stated Nareg Kitsinian, Chairman of the West Valley ANCA Chapter.

Born in the Valley, and educated in Political Science and Public Policy, Matt has volunteered in several non-profit organizations, and for almost 10 years, Matt has served as the District Chief of Staff and Senior Aide to Congressman Brad Sherman in the West San Fernando Valley, assisting thousands of Valley residents and businesses to solve problems. He has been a staunch supporter of Armenian issues and showed his unwavering support on all Armenian-American issues and has close ties to the San Fernando Valley Armenian community.

“We welcome the ANCA-WR’s endorsement of Matt Dababneh as he has been a longtime loyal friend to the Armenian-American community and is a viable candidate for Assembly 45th District with extensive public service experience and proven leadership qualities right in the heart of the valley,” stated Pierre Yenokian, Chairman of the North Valley ANCA Chapter. ”We encourage our community to support and vote for Matt Dababneh in the upcoming November 19th elections,” added Yenokian.
